25 Years Of Hope
25 Years of Hope

25 years of hopeFor the past 25 years, God has blessed Food For The Poor with the privilege of serving the poorest of the poor in the Caribbean and Latin America. Through our dedicated donors and missionaries in the field, we are able to consistently provide aid and comfort to those who need it most.

Founded in 1982, Food For The Poor began to help the suffering poor in the Caribbean. It started with a few bags of rice given to Jamaica's hungry, a few houses built for the homeless and a few compassionate donors who wanted to help.

Since then, Food For The Poor has grown to become the second-largest international charity in the United States, aiding the poor of 16 countries. God has blessed our organization with incredible growth and a greater capacity to serve the destitute. We have distributed more than $3 billion worth of aid throughout the Caribbean and Latin America through collective Christian charity and the sacrifice of our donors.

Our mission of service is best represented in the words Jesus speaks in Matthew's Gospel (25:40): “As often as you did it to one of the least of My brothers and sisters, you did it to Me.”

In every child smiling because he or she is no longer hungry, we see Christ. In every person drinking clean, fresh water, we see Christ. In every family sheltered from the rain, we see Christ.

Providing hope for future generations and freeing them from the darkness of poverty remain at the heart of our mission, as we look to the journey ahead in serving the poor in the years to come.
