Staff Accountant

Are you an organized, decisive, process-driven team player? Food For The Poor is seeking a professional to assist with all areas of its Accounting Department and to manage asset accounting (fixed assets, insurable assets and auction inventory) for the business operations of the company. Primary responsibilities will involve fixed asset and special inventory accounting, assistance in accounts payable processing whereby you will learn the chart of accounts and judge how invoices should be accounted for as well as assist with entering and reviewing the work of accounts payable staff, assistance with online banking and payment processing, assistance with special projects, as needed, and general accounting support to the department. We are looking for eager, talented and growth-oriented individuals to help our organization maintain the highest level of integrity.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, internal controls and financial standards
  • Experience working with accounting software; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus
  • Extensive Microsoft Excel experience and skills are mandatory
  • Experience working with cloud-based information systems and online banking platforms
  • Experience downloading, manipulating and formatting data from CSV files or similar formats
  • Aptitude with information systems and ability to assist department with transitions to new software platforms (local and/or cloud-based) as needed
  • Ability to clearly communicate with all levels of management
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative to suggest solutions to processes

Traffic Assistant - Shipping Department

Prepare required shipping documents for purchased/donated goods to various Caribbean and Latin American countries and maintain records of same. Interface with Gifts In Kind and Purchasing departments and work with vendors to ensure delivery of goods.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of shipping operations
  • Minimum of two years office/customer relations experience in shipping or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good telephone skills

Copywriter

Food For The Poor is seeking a professional, motivated, organized and detail-oriented person for its copywriter position. The copywriter will have excellent communication and written skills and the ability to write passionately on behalf of the poor. The copywriter will join an award-winning team that produces a variety of communications to publicize Food For The Poor’s work and impact on the people of the countries it serves in the Caribbean and Latin America. The copywriter will be responsible to travel to the countries Food For The Poor serves to gather research in order to produce compelling, written, direct-response non-profit fundraising copy and other creative and distinctive fundraising materials.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Travel to the Caribbean and Latin America to conduct interviews to produce and write emotive direct-response and other fundraising copy reflecting spirituality in a donor-friendly and donor-centric manner
  • Participate in concept development and brainstorming for fundraising campaigns that align with overall organizational brand
  • Write compelling copy across multiple platforms, print and digital, preferably in a fundraising environment
  • Brainstorms creative ideas and troubleshoots fundraising appeals.
  • The ideal candidate has good organization skills, can grasp project requirements quickly, offer valuable insight and is a team-spirited, skilled and imaginative writer with an eye for detail.

Service Advisor – Donor Relations

Food For The Poor is looking for a compassionate, upbeat bilingual (English/Spanish) Service Advisor for our Donor Relations Department. A successful candidate is at ease with speaking over the telephone and praying with donors. The ideal candidate is a team player who is not easily discouraged and maintains a positive attitude in an energetic fundraising environment.

This is a full-time position and the hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A passion for prayer is an essential function for the Service Advisor position.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Make follow-up calls to donors to discuss contents of campaign appeals, follow up on Direct Mail pieces, and request donations
  • Respond to questions, inquiries and prayer requests sent in by donors and offer to pray with them
  • Track donor calls in the AS400/Synthesis computer program
  • Stay current on Food For The Poor’s programs and services to convey information to donors in a compelling, heartfelt manner
  • Make calls to donors on special occasions such as holidays, birthdays and anniversaries to congratulate, encourage and offer prayer
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability and willingness to pray with donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Ability to deal with positive and negative responses, handle objections, and speak with conviction about the plight of the poor
  • Ability to speak persuasively with passion and integrity

Senior Field Advisor – Major Giving

Food For The Poor is seeking a seasoned fundraising professional to work as an active team player in the Major Giving Department. The successful candidate will develop relationships with top-tier donors to assist them in identifying and fulfilling their philanthropic goals. Through this important role, you can make a positive impact and create the change you wish to see in the world!

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Build, nurture and sustain relationships with approximately 125 individual top-tier donors primarily through face-to-face visits
  • Regularly solicit and secure five- and six-figure gifts from top-tier donors and prospects
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic disposition and perseverance; reflect an optimistic and positive attitude; and convey sensitivity to the needs of others
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Major Giving Department Director
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • National and occasional international travel to visit with donors
  • Responsible for developing, preparing, and distributing high-quality and professional communications, reports, letters, mailings, and other materials necessary to appropriately communicate with and engage top-tier donors
  • Work collaboratively with team to maximize overall effectiveness of department
Requirements of the Position:

Director of Planned Giving

Overall Responsibilities:

Develop, promote, and expand the planned giving program and direct program activities in coordination with the organization’s fundraising efforts to achieve goals, prepare departmental budget, manage departmental operations and staff, and network with outside groups and individuals to promote Food For The Poor’s planned giving programs. This is a full-time, management position in the Planned Giving Department.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Broad, in-depth knowledge and understanding of planned giving products/programs

  • Good planning and organizational skills

Outbound Caller – Church Assignment Coordinator

Contact churches throughout the United States to obtain, schedule and coordinate weekend visits for clergy speakers to share the plight of the poor on behalf of Food For The Poor.

Qualifications:
