Events Manager – Special Events

If you are a motivated, dynamic individual who can coordinate galas and events for 400 or more people, all while achieving fundraising goals and acquiring new donors, then Food For The Poor has a wonderful opportunity for you.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Event Manager's primary responsibility is to produce financially and operationally successful events while meeting budgetary goals. The Events Manager works under the direction of the Special Events Director in creating and achieving the goals established for each event, while keeping with the organization's missions, values and vision. These events include, but are not limited to: galas, 5K walks/runs, black-tie cocktail affairs and other third-party fundraisers.

For each event, the Event Manager is responsible for developing new leads and sponsors, recruiting committee members, and planning and production, which result in raising funds. The Events Manager must coordinate elements of multiple events at one time. A successful candidate is responsible for building teamwork, must be detail-oriented, and able to multitask and delegate when possible.

Service Advisor – Donor Relations

Food For The Poor is looking for a compassionate, upbeat Service Advisor for our Donor Relations Department. A successful candidate is at ease with speaking over the telephone and praying with donors. The ideal candidate is a team player who is not easily discouraged and maintains a positive attitude in an energetic fundraising environment.

This is a full-time position and the hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A passion for prayer is an essential function for the Service Advisor position.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Make follow-up calls to donors to discuss contents of campaign appeals, follow up on Direct Mail pieces, and request donations
  • Respond to questions, inquiries and prayer requests sent in by donors and offer to pray with them
  • Track donor calls in the AS400/Synthesis computer program
  • Stay current on Food For The Poor’s programs and services to convey information to donors in a compelling, heartfelt manner
  • Make calls to donors on special occasions such as holidays, birthdays and anniversaries to congratulate, encourage and offer prayer

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability and willingness to pray with donors
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and listening skills
  • Excellent telephone etiquette
  • Ability to deal with positive and negative responses, handle objections, and speak with conviction about the plight of the poor
  • Ability to speak persuasively with passion and integrity
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft applications (Outlook and Excel); AS/400 experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and sit in a chair for extended periods of time
  • Ability to speak French, Spanish and/or Creole is helpful
  • Time-management skills are a must

    Experience:

    At least two years’ related experience in sales/marketing/customer service, preferably in a nonprofit environment. Fundraising experience is helpful.

Graphic Designer

Overall Responsibilities:

Responsible for conceptualization and design of multi-channel direct marketing campaigns and fundraising materials that support all the departments within Food For The Poor. The position requires not only creativity, but also a high level of problem solving, critical thinking, and ability work within specified direct mail and brand guidelines. The ideal candidate will be a team player interested in collaborating with a highly skilled creative team and will have a passion for Food For The Poor’s mission. We are looking for an individual that is detail-oriented, organized and can manage multiple jobs at once, while creating out of the box ideas and designs. Designers are responsible for preparing files for high volume print production, and for web usage. Other responsibilities include branding of special events and other programs.

Qualifications:

  • Solid conceptualization, design and artistic ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Detail and deadline-oriented with flexible and team player attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • Aptitude to take direction
  • Strong skills in Mac platform Adobe Creative Cloud, and fluency in In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.
  • Experience working with font management, photo archiving systems and Microsoft Office a plus
  • Photo color correction experience
  • Strong knowledge of print production and pre-press procedures

    Education:

  • Degree in graphic design or related field with ongoing education to keep up-to-date on all relevant computer programs and trends

    Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in direct mail/print industry. Fundraising and/or marketing background preferred, but not required. Web design experience is a plus.

Outbound Caller – Church Assignment Coordinator

Our Church Assignments Department is seeking an individual with excellent customer service skills who is comfortable making outbound telephone calls to clergy and churches throughout the United States.

Overall Responsibilities:

Obtain, schedule, and coordinate weekend assignments for Speakers to share the plight of the poor on behalf of Food For The Poor.

Qualifications:

Sponsorship and Events Manager – Special Events

Use your fundraising, development, networking and event planning experience to serve the poor in the Caribbean and Latin America through Food For The Poor. You will be hands-on in the planning, execution and development of multiple events, both locally and nationally. Be a part of making a difference in the lives of others.

Overall Responsibilities:

Food for the Poor is seeking a seasoned professional to support its event fundraising efforts through the development and growth of sponsorships and individual/business/corporate donations for all events. The candidate will be responsible for raising funds and in-kind donations/auction items to ensure financially successful events to meet budgetary goals within our Special Events Department. While a successful candidate will have the responsibility of securing funds to support all events, the primary focus is garnering major support for events held in Florida.

The Sponsorships and Events Manager is responsible for developing leads, securing up to six-figure sponsorships, actively engaging with committee members, and refining/developing income generating components that will increase overall funding to reach the set goals for each event.

The Sponsorships and Events Manager will also assist the Director of Special Events with overall responsibilities, including the creation and oversight of fundraising events such as annual galas, dinners, receptions, food packing and endurance events; development of new and current fundraising initiatives in partnership with the Special Events team; create and maintain additional fundraising initiatives; and establish and maintain prospective and current donor relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, public relations and event coordination, with a successful track record in a wide spectrum of events. Proven fundraising experience, sponsor acquisition, relationship management and retention are required
  • Sponsorship sales and major gifts experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred
  • Possess a keen understanding of the local business and philanthropic landscape
  • Ability to communicate and effectively persuade business and community leaders
  • Excellent networking and relationship building skills
  • Effective communicator with ties to business and community leaders

Estate Settlement Assistant – Planned Giving

Do you have experience working in the legal field? Do you have knowledge of estate planning including Wills and Trusts? If so, Food For The Poor has a unique opportunity for you in our Planned Giving Department. We are in need of a team player to help process bequests and work collaboratively with attorneys.

Assist the Planned Giving Manager in maintaining contact with Food For The Poor’s attorney and managing bequests.

Church, School, and Community Development Project Coordinator

Your participation will open hearts to the gospel message and create public awareness of the Third World’s plight.Through your involvement, you will help Food For The Poor provide needy families with food, medicine, basic housing, education and more.
