Positions Available

Project Manager

Food For The Poor is seeking a Project Manager to oversee its projects and programs in Guyana and the eastern Caribbean islands under the guidance of the respective country manager or in-country partner.

  • Conduct in-country feasibility studies on projects to determine if they are legitimate, feasible, and in line with organizational policies and beliefs.
  • Visit project sites and meet with beneficiaries to discuss project needs and funding requirements.
  • Meet with country office director or director of partner organizations to discuss projects, and resolve any problems or challenges in collaboration with in-country personnel.
  • Review prospective projects, create proposals, review digital photos, and submit to Projects Department administrative staff for proper file processing.
  • Monitor funded projects on an ongoing basis to assure timely completion within budget.
  • Maintain assignment database lists to reflect actual and current status of specific projects.
  • Furnish additional information as required by fundraising departments and/or respond to requests concerning country/projects.
  • Research special requests.
  • Travel to Guyana and the eastern Caribbean islands to monitor and maintain relationships with partner priests, pastors, missionaries, and NGOs.
  • Organize specialized pilgrimages/trips for groups to visit specific projects or areas.
  • Furnish monthly status reports on current projects to country offices and quarterly updates to fundraising departments, including current photos.
  • Create status reports on funded projects.
  • Produce expense reports upon return from trips and monitor amounts spent per budget.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally thirty to fifty percent of the time
  • Computer literacy, including typing skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and project management skills
  • Basic photography skills are a plus.

Bachelor degree required


At least five years of work experience, preferably in related field. The position involves interacting with different levels of management and donors. It requires an assertive, flexible individual with strong interpersonal skills. Travel experience is preferred.

Food For The Poor is seeking a professional, motivated, organized and detail-oriented person for its copywriter position. The copywriter will have excellent communication and written skills and the ability to write passionately on behalf of the poor. The copywriter will join an award-winning team that produces a variety of communications to publicize Food For The Poor’s work and impact on the people of the countries it serves in the Caribbean and Latin America. The copywriter will be responsible to travel to the countries Food For The Poor serves to gather research in order to produce compelling, written, direct-response non-profit fundraising copy and other creative and distinctive fundraising materials.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Travel to the Caribbean and Latin America to conduct interviews to produce and write emotive direct-response and other fundraising copy reflecting spirituality in a donor-friendly and donor-centric manner
  • Participate in concept development and brainstorming for fundraising campaigns that align with overall organizational brand
  • Write compelling copy across multiple platforms, print and digital, preferably in a fundraising environment
  • Brainstorms creative ideas and troubleshoots fundraising appeals.

Junior SQL Programmer – Information Systems Department

Our Information Systems Department is seeking a Junior SQL Programmer. If you have programming experience and enjoy writing or modifying new programs, analyzing specifications and performing testing solutions, this position is for you. This is a full-time position and the hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Write new programs or modify existing programs, as necessary, adhering to known corporate programming standards
  • Analyze system specifications into appropriate computer language
  • Execute trial/testing runs to verify accuracy of programs and correct errors

Major Giving and Projects Liaison – Major Giving Department

Overall Responsibilities:

Serve as a liaison between Major Giving, Projects, and Missions & Travel departments, and in-country offices and partners in coordinating and leading mission trips with major donors

International Field Manager – Angels Of Hope Department

Food For The Poor is seeking a dedicated professional with integrity, willingness and ability to travel internationally who will serve as a direct link between the orphanages and our office.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Travel to AOH orphanages to manage and build relationships with in-country staff and homes
  • Increase Angels Of Hope enrollment, involvement and support
  • Manage the country coordinators’ collection of all program materials from the children and orphanages, and provide them to the Sponsorship Department staff for processing
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must be fully bilingual in English/Spanish – read, write and speak

Service Advisor – Donor Relations

Food For The Poor is looking for a compassionate, upbeat bilingual (English/Spanish) Service Advisor for our Donor Relations Department. A successful candidate is at ease with speaking over the telephone and praying with donors. The ideal candidate is a team player who is not easily discouraged and maintains a positive attitude in an energetic fundraising environment.

This is a full-time position and the hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A passion for prayer is an essential function for the Service Advisor position.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Make follow-up calls to donors to discuss contents of campaign appeals, follow up on Direct Mail pieces, and request donations
  • Respond to questions, inquiries and prayer requests sent in by donors and offer to pray with them
  • Track donor calls in the AS400/Synthesis computer program
  • Stay current on Food For The Poor’s programs and services to convey information to donors in a compelling, heartfelt manner
  • Make calls to donors on special occasions such as holidays, birthdays and anniversaries to congratulate, encourage and offer prayer
Skills & Qualifications:

Senior Field Advisor – Major Giving

Food For The Poor is seeking a seasoned fundraising professional to work as an active team player in the Major Giving Department. The successful candidate will develop relationships with top-tier donors to assist them in identifying and fulfilling their philanthropic goals. Overall Responsibilities:
  • Build, nurture and sustain relationships with approximately 125 individual top-tier donors primarily through face-to-face visits
  • Regularly solicit and secure five- and six-figure gifts from top-tier donors and prospects
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic disposition and perseverance; reflect an optimistic and positive attitude; and convey sensitivity to the needs of others

Radio Marketing Manager

Overall Responsibilities:

The Radio Marketing Manager, Fundraiser, On-Air Host and Campaign Developer is a full-time position that is responsible for in-studio fundraisers, pre- and post-campaign telephone interviews, media trips, audio production and editing, budgeting/forecasting, and assisting in the department’s growth and development by seeking additional fundraising opportunities.

Director of Planned Giving

Overall Responsibilities:

Develop, promote, and expand the planned giving program and direct program activities in coordination with the organization’s fundraising efforts to achieve goals, prepare departmental budget, manage departmental operations and staff, and network with outside groups and individuals to promote Food For The Poor’s planned giving programs. This is a full-time, management position in the Planned Giving Department.
