Positions Available:


Laser Print Shop Associate

Food For The Poor is seeking a Print Shop Associate with experience in BCC Mail Manager software. The primary responsibilities will include processing data files for in-house print production and direct mail efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent understanding of data
  • Must have strong customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Education: Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: At least one year experience with laser printing, direct mail software or variable data digital print software (Maxprint or similar variable data digital print software). BCC Mail Manager experience or similar presort software. Print production experience preferred.

Fulfillment and Review Writer

Overall Responsibilities: As a Fulfillment and Review Writer in our Projects Department, you will be responsible for writing status reports, project fulfillments, and solicitation proposals from draft text as supplied by our project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to draft and rewrite reports in an accurate, concise and compelling fashion
  • Demonstrated skill in excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to write clear, structured, and articulate reports, and make appropriate editorial changes including correcting  grammatical errors and inconsistencies
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
  • Comfortable with independent problem-solving and using research to achieve successful resolution of problems and questions
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to locate and verify accurate information and/or statistical data for pertinent application
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to successfully complete projects and assignments in a timely fashion

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience: At least two years’ writing experience; five years of administrative experience preferred

Photographer

Would you like to use your photojournalism expertise to help less fortunate children and families in developing countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America? As a Staff Photographer, you’ll travel throughout the countries we serve to document the need that exists, and work with the Creative Department to create compelling fundraising materials through storytelling. Your work will play a key role in furthering Food For The Poor’s mission to provide emergency aid and long-term development projects for the impoverished.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Participates in planning story gathering trips.
  • Travels to countries served by Food For The Poor to photograph and document the plight of the poor.
  • Travels with members of the Creative Department and other departments to take photographs for fundraising materials.
  • Takes photographs and provides photos for internal and external use as needed.
  • Processes photographs and creates/maintains digital photo library. Responsible for all photographic editorial functions: selections, scanning, preparing files, etc. for use in fundraising and other marketing functions.
  • Applies critical thinking to photo selection, story content and general fundraising ideas with the Creative team.

Skills & Qualifications:
  • Expert knowledge of photography and photographic processes

  • Ability to work in a multitude of different environments, including potentially challenging and sometimes extreme conditions in developing countries

  • College degree in photography, graphic art, journalism, or related field.
Experience:
  • Photojournalism, journalism or documentary background preferred
  • Newspaper experience preferable

Donor Services Representative ―Donor Services

If you are bilingual English/Spanish, have the kind of “gold standard” customer service skills that make people feel valued, and are compassionate, reliable, attentive, and personable, we have a great opportunity for you.

Overall Responsibilities:

Respond to and/or initiate telephone calls, written correspondence, or email to donors and other individuals who have questions, concerns, or request information. Perform front desk receptionist responsibilities as needed.

Graphic Designer

Overall Responsibilities:

Responsible for conceptualization and design of direct mail campaigns as well as all other fundraising print materials such as brochures, catalogs, posters, invitations and advertisements. Materials created will support all departments within the organization and must utilize Food For The Poor’s look and identity. Other responsibilities include creating program materials, branding of special events and graphics for the Web, as well as preparing files for high volume print production.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Solid conceptualization, design and artistic ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Detail and deadline-oriented with flexible and team player attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • Aptitude to take direction
  • Strong skills in Mac platform Adobe CS5 Suite (In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat) – font management, photo archiving systems
  • Strong knowledge of print production and pre-press

Education: Degree in graphic design or related field with ongoing education to keep up to date on all relevant computer programs and trends.

Experience: A minimum of five years’ experience in direct mail/print industry. Fundraising background preferred, but not required.

Clergy for our Speakers Bureau

Are you interested in preaching in the U.S. on behalf of Food For The Poor’s ministry to destitute families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America? As opportunities become available throughout the year, we hire English-speaking and bilingual (Spanish/English) Catholic and Episcopal priests and Lutheran pastors.

Your participation will open hearts to the gospel message and create public awareness of the Third World’s plight. Through your involvement, you will help Food For The Poor provide needy families with food, medicine, basic housing, education and more.

  • Commitment is only for weekends
  • Salary/stipend, travel and expenses provided
  • No relocation necessary
  • Must have permission from Bishop or Major Superior
