Positions Available:



Project Manager

Food For The Poor is seeking a bilingual (English and Spanish) Project Manager to oversee its projects and programs in Central America under the guidance of the respective country manager or in-country partner.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-country feasibility studies on projects to determine if they are legitimate, feasible, and in line with organizational policies and beliefs.
  • Visit project sites and meet with beneficiaries to discuss project needs and funding requirements.
  • Meet with country office director or director of partner organizations to discuss projects, and resolve any problems or challenges in collaboration with in-country personnel.
  • Review prospective projects, create proposals, review digital photos, and submit to Projects Department administrative staff for proper file processing.
  • Monitor funded projects on an ongoing basis to assure timely completion within budget.
  • Maintain assignment database lists to reflect actual and current status of specific projects.
  • Furnish additional information as required by fundraising departments and/or respond to requests concerning country/projects.
  • Research special requests.
  • Travel to Central American countries on a monthly basis to monitor and maintain relationships with partner priests, pastors, missionaries, and NGOs.
  • Organize specialized pilgrimages/trips for groups to visit specific projects or areas.
  • Furnish monthly status reports on current projects to country offices and quarterly updates to fundraising departments, including current photos.
  • Create status reports on funded projects.
  • Produce expense reports upon return from trips and monitor amounts spent per budget.

Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Basic photography skills are a plus 
  • Ability to translate and speak Spanish fluently
  • Ability to travel 50 percent of the time 
  • Computer literacy, including typing skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Experience: At least five years of work experience, preferably in related field. The position involves interacting with different levels of management and donors. It requires an assertive, flexible individual with strong interpersonal skills. Travel experience is preferred.

Auction / Sponsorship Coordinator (Part-Time)

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Obtain high-end auction items and sponsorships for all Food For The Poor events and national raffles for the use of fundraising in support of the Special Events Department
  • Research items, seek out national partners such as airlines and hotels for prizes and sponsorships, as well as many others in the area of potential sponsorship, and implement a solid plan for each event
  • Solicit goods via phone, in person and by email
  • Research event areas for prize donations and sponsorships via the internet, Chambers of Commerce, local and national magazines and newspapers, as well as in person and be able to think outside of the box
  • Create a database both locally and nationally for these auction items and sponsorships
  • Send letters, make calls, set up meetings and follow up
  • Assist in the event setup on location and working of the auction
  • Assist in the event follow up with the processing of paperwork
  • Arrange to pick up donated items in a timely manner and follow up with thank-you notes
  • Oversee and train volunteers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by manager and director

Director of Speakers

Do you have experience with church ministry and management, mission outreach, and knowledge of various clergy? If so, there is an exciting opportunity available at Food For The Poor to enhance church relationships, build new ones, and serve those in the greatest need.

Overall Responsibilities: The Director of Speakers will lead the department to acquire contributions and donors through speaking engagements at churches of various denominations in the United States. The Director of Speakers will measure and hold speakers accountable to achieve fundraising goals at weekend assignments; efficiently and cost-effectively organize travel arrangements for the various speaking assignments; and analyze speaker results for each assignment.

The Director of Speakers will be responsible for putting in place plans to hire Catholic speakers to meet current and planned demand for Catholic assignments. The director is also responsible for acquiring speakers of other denominations to meet the demand of fulfilling all speaking engagements. The director will also oversee training for all speakers to reach desired fundraising performance levels.

The Director of Speakers will also oversee the relationship with Archdioceses, Dioceses and Ordinaries, and work with the Executive Director to create a yearly department budget and develop strategies to improve relationships with all denominations throughout the U.S.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree; degree in Ministry preferred
  • At least five years of management experience in a related field with a proven track record in obtaining results and developing staff
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Manager of Protestant Speakers

Excellent communication skills along with the ability to create and maintain relationships with clergy across protestant denominations, is what we are looking for to fill this exciting position.

Overall Responsibilities: The Manager of Protestant Speakers will be responsible to initiate recruiting of speakers for Protestant, non-denominational and Evangelical churches as necessary to meet the demand of fulfilling all speaking engagements. This position will be responsible for efficiently and cost-effectively organizing travel arrangements for the various speaking assignments throughout the U.S., and also for developing reports to analyze results of each weekend assignment. The manager will also oversee and help develop strategies and training for speakers to meet the desired fundraising performance levels.

Director of Church and School

Are you an experienced fundraiser with the ability to lead a team in developing new opportunities for department growth? Are you energetic and self-motivated with excellent managerial skills and compassion for the poor?

Overall Responsibilities: The Director of Church and School will lead the department in donor development and resource management. The right candidate will be able to initiate guidance in creating and developing long-term relationships with church organizations such as schools, committees and other groups to foster their commitment and raise funds.

The director will work with the Church and School manager and staff to improve training methods to increase staff effectiveness and their fundraising capabilities, and give guidance in creating new initiatives to fundraise for the department. The person in this key role must be able to develop tracking reports to monitor staff achievement, along with fundraising and overall department goals.

This position will also work with the Director of Assignment Coordinators to provide necessary information to continue ongoing relationships with churches, in addition to working with the Executive Director to create a yearly department budget.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree and/or proven track record in managing and fundraising (CFRE a plus)
  • At least 5+ years of management experience with a background in nonprofit management/fundraising or experience in a related field such as public relations or marketing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ability to speak clearly and persuasively; strong group presentation skills
  • Competent in letter writing, with the ability to put in writing project proposals and other materials necessary for department production and success
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to take initiative and follow through on multiple projects to completion

Assignment Coordinator – Speakers Bureau

Our Speakers Bureau is seeking an individual with excellent customer service skills who is comfortable making outbound telephone calls to clergy and churches throughout the United States.

Donor Processing Clerk – Data Entry

Overall Responsibilities: Research and enter information into the computer from batches. Post money portion of batches to accounts, clean up auto batches, and enter name/address changes. Scan checks, open and sort mail, complete web reports.

Graphic Designer

Overall Responsibilities:

Responsible for conceptualization and design of direct mail campaigns as well as all other fundraising print materials such as brochures, catalogs, posters, invitations and advertisements. Materials created will support all departments within the organization and must utilize Food For The Poor’s look and identity. Other responsibilities include creating program materials, branding of special events and graphics for the Web, as well as preparing files for high volume print production.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Solid conceptualization, design and artistic ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to multi-task
  • Detail and deadline-oriented with flexible and team player attitude and ability to work under pressure
  • Aptitude to take direction

Campaign Advisor – Donor Relations

Food For The Poor is looking for a compassionate, upbeat Campaign Advisor for our Donor Relations Department.  At ease with speaking over the telephone and praying with donors, the ideal candidate is a team player who is not easily discouraged and maintains a positive attitude in an energetic fundraising environment. The hours for this position are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm; Wednesday and Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Make follow-up calls to donors to discuss contents of campaign appeals, follow up on direct mail pieces, and request donations
  • Respond to questions, inquiries, and prayer requests sent in by donors and offer to pray with them
  • Track donor calls in the AS400/TelAthena computer program
  • Stay current on Food for the Poor’s programs and services to convey information to donors in a compelling, heartfelt manner

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • At least two years related experience in sales/marketing/customer service, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Fundraising experience
  • Ability and willingness to pray with donors
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and listening skills

Your participation will open hearts to the gospel message and create public awareness of the Third World’s plight. Through your involvement, you will help Food For The Poor provide needy families with food, medicine, basic housing, education and more.
