Clergy for our Speakers Bureau
Positions are now available for English-speaking and bilingual (Spanish/English) Catholic and Episcopal priests and Lutheran pastors interested in preaching in the U.S. on behalf of Food For The Poor’s ministry to destitute families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
Your participation will open hearts to the gospel message and create public awareness of the Third World’s plight. Through your involvement, you will help Food For The Poor provide needy families with food, medicine, basic housing, education and more.
- Commitment is only for weekends
- Salary/stipend, travel and expenses provided
- No relocation necessary
- Must have permission from Bishop or Major Superior

Assignment Coordinator – Speakers Bureau
Food For The Poor shouldn’t be the best-kept secret anymore! Our Speakers Bureau is seeking an individual with excellent customer service skills who is comfortable making outbound telephone calls to clergy and churches throughout the United States.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Schedule assignments for staff priests and ministers to speak about Food For The Poor during weekend church services
- Arrange and coordinate details of each weekend assignment for the speakers
- Record notes of church contacts in donor file
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- At least three years experience in customer service, fundraising, marketing or the equivalent
- Excellent telephone communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good writing skills
- Good office clerical skills
- Ability to work with or without supervision
- Ability to prioritize duties, remain focused, and work as a team member
- Computer literacy in Microsoft applications (including Excel)

Internal Auditor
Overall Responsibilities:
Plan, perform, report, and follow up on audits and special project reviews in accordance with the Annual Audit Plan. In addition, the Internal Auditor will: perform audits as determined by the CFO and Audit Committee, prepare and present audit reports of completed audits, prepare and maintain working papers related to audit projects in accordance with internal standards, assist the independent public accountants in conducting designated financial statement work, and perform special projects as directed by the Audit Committee or company executives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Solid knowledge of internal audit practices, principles and standards
- Knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of financial statements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written) with good presentation skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products and expertise in data mining software
- In-depth understanding of business cultures, systems and processes
- Ability to assess risks, controls, ethics, and evaluate emerging technologies and opportunities for economies and efficiencies
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or Finance
- A Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor or Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred
- Active membership in a professional organization is desirable to establish peer relationships with auditors and industry contacts to share best practices
Experience:
- A minimum of five years of progressive internal audit/compliance experience; three years of managerial experience preferred
- Demonstrated performance of identifying significant operational areas for improvement

Staff Writer
Overall Responsibilities:
Food For The Poor, Inc. is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented person to serve as its Staff Writer. The Staff Writer joins an editorial and design team that produces a variety of award-winning communications to publicize Food For The Poor’s work and impact on the people of the countries it serves. The Staff Writer is responsible for conceptualizing and developing articles for internal and external audiences, for both print and web. The Staff Writer will be responsible to travel to countries Food For The Poor serves to gather research in order to produce written direct mail appeals and other fundraising pieces that are creative, informative, and distinctive.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent writing and editorial skills
- Strong Interviewing skills
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
- Team-player attitude
- Ability to create moving copy and reflect spirituality in written pieces
- Ability to produce quality work under tight deadline
- Ability to travel
- Some ability to speak Creole or Spanish helpful

Education:

Experience:
- 5+ years experience in Journalism or direct mail writing, preferably in a non-profit environment.

Payroll Accountant – Accounting Department
Overall Responsibilities: Administer time and attendance/payroll for over 300 employees; handle various accounting functions.
Skills:
- Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws
- Account reconciliation
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
- Possess excellent time management, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic and high degree of professionalism
- Able to demonstrate an intermediate to advanced proficiency in Internet based applications and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Aptitude for numbers
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate in person, as well as in formal and informal written forms, with internal and external clients and staff
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience: Working knowledge of payroll best practices. At least 2 – 3 years of recent ADP experience required; ADP Workforce Now preferred. ERP software experience required.
