Education

A doctor in Haiti, a nurse in Guatemala, an architect in Jamaica... all of these professions meet essential needs and must be filled by future generations.

Giving children and adults in the Caribbean and Latin America the opportunity to receive an education can help them break free from the generational cycle of poverty. By nurturing talents and providing the chance for a brighter future through schooling, the children of impoverished countries can become educated, skilled adults. This not only produces doctors, nurses, architects and other capable individuals; this also helps provide a workforce that can raise the quality of life in the countries we serve.

Food For The Poor provides schooling and educational opportunities to youngsters who, because they lack the means, may otherwise never receive an education. In the United States, children attend school at no cost; basic schooling is not an option — it is required. In poverty-stricken areas of the Caribbean and Latin America, school is a privilege and for many families only a dream.

With the support of our donors, Food For The Poor is able to provide desks, supplies, books, chalkboards and safe buildings for learning. Food For The Poor also supplies uniforms and the materials needed for children to be successful in the classroom. By providing these basic educational items, in addition to supplying food to nourish the body and mind, Food For The Poor strives to help future generations learn the skills needed to overcome crippling poverty.
