Medical centers
Adequate medical care is a basic necessity for healthy living. Unlike the United States, impoverished nations in the Caribbean and Latin America often lack the resources to provide medical services to destitute families and communities. Consequently, what might be considered minor, treatable conditions — ailments like diarrhea, fever or pneumonia — can become life-threatening for vulnerable children and their parents. Food For The Poor provides essential medicines, equipment and medical supplies to poverty-stricken areas in the countries we serve. In addition, we support clinics, hospitals and nutrition centers that offer lifesaving treatment to those who have nowhere else to turn. Our well-established network of partner organizations offers an efficient means of assessing the needs of a community and providing material assistance. Countless families are provided with basic medical care at little or no cost; pharmaceutical products (which are often difficult to obtain) are also made available for distribution. Through education, we also strive to teach families the basic principles of healthy living. FAST FACTS - MEDICAL CENTERS
Often times, impaired health is directly related to malnutrition, especially in children. An infant who is not properly nourished may develop more serious, life-threatening complications that require medical care and resources. Consequently, Food For The Poor supports nutrition centers that lovingly nurture innocent little ones back to health. Often these young children make an amazing recovery — transformations that can only be described as miraculous. Through the generosity of donors like you, Food For The Poor is able to provide lifesaving medicines and support programs that bring health and hope to impoverished communities. Receiving treatment and education, children and parents have hope for a better future. Thank you for reaching out to alleviate the suffering of our poorest brothers and sisters. - November 2010 If you would like to donate to medical supplies please click here.
