Eduardo’s Story
From birth, Eduardo’s young life has been filled with hunger. The toddler lives in a drought-plagued area of Guatemala, where crops struggle to grow and fields often lie fallow. Guatemala is suffering a national food crisis that has devastated families like Eduardo’s.
The toddler barely weighs nine pounds. He is severely malnourished, and his mother, Elvia, must rely on generous and kind strangers to feed him. Elvia struggles to provide whatever little food she can for her family, but life is hard and often the children go hungry. Sometimes there is only a small pot of beans to feed the entire family. This is their only meal of the day, and Eduardo must wait until the following day in hopes of eating again. His mother frequently prays that God will send a kind person to aid her suffering children.
Elvia asks for God’s forgiveness and for His help in making Eduardo healthy and strong. Sometimes she cries when she sees her suffering child, and she feels powerless to find food for him. Your act of compassion today can have a meaningful effect on a child like Eduardo. Please consider becoming a member of Food For The Poor’s Child of the Month Club by reaching out to help children who need to know that someone cares about them. May God bless you for your compassion. “…but Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to Me, and do not prevent them;
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” (Matthew 19:14)
