Wendy’s Story
Wendy and her older sister are currently living in a girls home in San Salvador. When they first arrived at the home, they were anxious because they didn’t know anyone. By their second day in the home, both Wendy and her sister had made many new friends. They now feel safe and comfortable. Wendy’s mother still struggles to earn a living, but she takes comfort in the fact that her two girls are safe, happy and receiving an education. “I worry about my mom a lot,” says Wendy. The girls are able to see their mother once or twice a month — when she can afford the bus fare needed to reach the home. “I love my mom and am excited to see her when we can,” says Wendy. She concludes, “At night I pray for my mom and my brother. I pray that God will protect them and that they’ll have food in the house.”
Wendy has a message to those who are able to help support her home and others like it: “There are a lot of kids here who need help. There are a lot of kids living on the streets and eating out of garbage cans.” How you can helpThere are countless other children like Wendy waiting for your help. If you can help prevent just one child from having to eat out of a garbage can or worrying about the dangers of living on the street, then you will have made a big difference. Please, be as generous as you possibly can and give a gift today. “And whoever receives one child such as this in My name receives Me.”
(Matthew 18:5)
