Guatemala’s dying children

7-year-old Fredy Panjoj is only 24 pounds. According to his doctors, he is in the final stages of malnutrition and is half the weight of a healthy boy his age.

When most people see a child like 7-year-old Fredy, shock and disbelief are common responses.

How could an innocent child just waste away like that?

Unfortunately, nutritional centers and clinics are seeing more extreme cases like Fredy’s every day. Our partner nutritional centers are being inundated with emaciated children on the brink of starvation. As food prices continue to rise, and as storms destroy crops, desperate families are begging us to do whatever we can to save their children’s lives.

The harsh truth is that this cycle of child malnourishment, starvation and death will continue on unless caring people intervene and provide the food, medicine and care needed to save lives.

Children who go untreated as long as Fredy often reach a point of no return. Without the nutrition their growing bodies need, their helpless families are forced to watch them simply waste away.

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, Food For The Poor-supported nutritional centers and clinics attempt to save as many lives as possible, but when food sources are limited, workers are forced to turn some away. Please help us make sure this doesn’t happen…

Today we ask you to please send your best gift so children like Fredy can be saved.

“They were hungry and thirsty;
their life was ebbing away.”
(Psalm 107:5)
