Projects to Help Poor Children, Angels of Hope

Throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, precious children who have been orphaned or abandoned by their families need love and support. Through our projects to help poor children, Food For The Poor’s Angels of Hope program, you can provide both.

Food For The Poor has specially selected orphanages in the Caribbean and Latin America for participation in our Angels of Hope program. These are nongovernmental homes that help orphaned children grow and develop mentally, physically and spiritually in a Christian environment. Angels of Hope Blog

About the Program

“And whoever receives one child
such as this in My name receives Me.” (Matthew 18:5)

The Angels of Hope program is an opportunity for you to form a very special bond with a very special child. The children in our program have faced many difficulties in their young lives… you can offer them the strength and encouragement they need to develop and grow. You can change a life forever.

The children in these homes receive as much love and attention as their caretakers can possibly provide. But even in the best environment, all children want to feel unique… to know that someone has a special place in their heart just for them. That’s what you can do.

As an Angel of Hope sponsor, you’ll receive a welcome kit that includes:

A photo of the child you’re sponsoring.
A brief biography of the child.
A fact sheet about the country your sponsored child lives in.
A membership book with details about the program such as more specifics about writing to your sponsored child, sending gifts, etc.

Selecting a Child

“For I rescued the poor who cried out for help, the orphans, and the unassisted…” (Job 29:12)

Orphaned and abandoned children throughout the Caribbean and Latin America need your love and support. We will select a child based on the greatest need. This method of selection not only allows us to meet the most urgent needs, but also helps keep administrative costs of the program to a minimum and ensures that children receive the love of a sponsor without regard to gender, age or nationality.

If your sponsored child leaves the orphanage to live with relatives or because he or she has reached adulthood, you will be notified and given the opportunity to sponsor another child.

Cost of Sponsorship

“Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have;
God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind.” (Hebrews 13:16)

A gift of $34 each month will help provide food, clothes, shelter, education and the many other necessities a child needs to grow and develop. For slightly more than a dollar a day, you can help change a child’s life forever.

For your convenience, donations made online will be automatically withdrawn from your bank account or credit card depending on whether you select a monthly or yearly sponsorship. This reduces postage and processing costs and helps make the program more efficient.

FAQ

Will I be able to correspond with my child?

The children will send letters to the donor under the program schedule epoch. Sponsors will have the opportunity to write back to their child twice a year. It is important that we adhere to these limitations in order to control administration, translation, and delivery costs.

Why automatic withdrawals?

Automatic withdrawals from your bank account or credit card reduce our processing and postage costs — allowing more of your donation to be used where it is really needed.

Will I be able to select my child?

All orphans in this program need love and support of an Angel of Hope. We prayerfully select an orphan for you based on greatest need. This method of selection not only allows us to meet the greatest needs first, it also reduces our administrative expenses by not having to match requested criteria to a particular orphan.
