Love Letters

Aliyah, 12, suffered severe physical abuse and neglect before arriving at one of our supported orphanages in Guyana. She was regularly left alone and uncared for.

I feel like I am their daughter, Aliyah Fidel

But the usually stoic little girl noticeably perks up whenever asked about her Angels Of Hope sponsor who regularly writes to her. “The letters make me feel as happy as I can be,” she said.

Aliyah loves to send and receive letters, sharing her love for animals as well as hearing about her sponsor’s family. “I feel like I am their daughter,” she said.

When a little one who has only known pain and neglect is showered with unabashed love and attention, God’s love is magnificently illuminated.

The emotional changes that your support helps bring about within a young life is one of the more blessed transitions to witness. And while your generosity provides children with the necessities for daily life, your letters make an indelible mark upon a child’s heart.

For a lonely orphan who has endured so much, your letters are a reminder that someone cares for them — that they are not forgotten.

Thank you for your continued support. May God bless you for your compassion for orphans. You are making an incredible difference in the life of a child.

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
(James 1:27a, NIV)

Dreams Come True

How you can alter the future of young lives

You can help provide a scholarship for children residing at Angels Of Hope sponsored homes to study at a college or vocational school of their choice.

Dinora Zamora
Dinora Zamora is enjoying her fifth and final year of the Psychology program

After being raised in an Angels Of Hope orphanage in Nicaragua, Dinora Zamora is enjoying her fifth and final year of the Psychology program at the Universidad Hispano Americana in Nicaragua.

People like you have provided a scholarship for Dinora since her freshman year. Dinora’s grade average for the current year is 84%, and the dedicated student is very grateful to have such an incredible opportunity: “Dear sponsor, I am very grateful for all that you’ve done for me and the other young children who wish to achieve. Without your help, none of this would be possible,” she happily wrote.

Through the loving gifts of people like you, six students are currently receiving college or vocational school scholarships. But many more children in Angels Of Hope orphanages long for the same opportunity.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based on current and potential academic performance, need, and recommendations of the home administrator and Angels Of Hope coordinators. Your gifts to the scholarship fund help pay for tuition, school supplies, uniform (if applicable), transportation, textbooks and meals.

Each scholarship recipient must maintain an 80% grade average or better to renew their scholarship.

If you would like to create a miraculous opportunity for an aspiring student like Dinora to continue their education, you can choose to make an additional gift toward the scholarship fund on the enclosed reply. Thank you for making dreams come true. May God bless you.

“Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6, NIV)

The Day of Celebration brings together children from the various Angels Of Hope orphanages
The Day of Celebration brings together children from the various Angels Of Hope orphanages

A Day of Celebration

They anticipate the day for months. Like children waiting for Christmas, the orphans you help support bubble with excitement over their upcoming Day of Celebration. They constantly talk about the day, ask questions about it and dream about the fun-filled affair.

Food For The Poor’s Day of Celebration brings together children from the various Angels Of Hope orphanages for an all-day event filled with sports, cultural dances, music and other festivities. These celebrations are held on different dates in each country, but the results are always the same… laughter, fun and the joys of childhood.

Most of these children have troubled pasts, having suffered abuse or neglect. Many have been abandoned. For little ones who have endured so much at an early age, a day filled with pure frivolity and joy is a tremendous blessing — a blessing you help provide.

“And He took the children in His arms,
put His hands on them and blessed them.”
(Mark 10:16, NIV)

Learning long-term, self-sustaining solutions is invaluable
Learning long-term, self-sustaining solutions is invaluable

For children attempting to escape the cycle of poverty, the opportunity to learn long-term, self-sustaining solutions is invaluable.

Through your support, projects like agricultural development and animal husbandry are established throughout our Angels Of Hope orphanages, offering children the opportunity to better their lives and learn skills that will serve them well in the future.

Tilapia ponds

Fish farming is an efficient way to produce a sustainable source of nutritious protein. Tilapia is a hardy freshwater fish that grows quickly and requires little maintenance. Learning the fish farming trade will help orphans better provide for themselves when they are grown.

Chickens

Chickens are inexpensive to maintain and provide a steady supply of protein-rich eggs. Extra eggs can be sold. Children who learn to raise chickens will be better equipped to support their own families one day.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Art Angels

The Angels Of Hope orphanages you support participate in an annual art contest that not only showcases the children’s talents, but instills them with invaluable inspiration and confidence. The following are this year’s winners:

Nolberto Maldonado, 17
Hogar San Ramon, Honduras

Nolberto came to live at the orphanage after his mother died and he was found living alone. His father is an alcoholic and was unable to take care of him. Nolberto is a cheerful and helpful boy who likes to draw, paint and sing. His favorite subject is English and Nolberto wants to become an engineer after completing school.

Junior Category:

Michael Mejia, 12
Hogar Dolores Medina, El Salvador

Michael Mejia was found living on the streets of El Salvador before being brought to his new orphanage. Even though he is very shy, he is quite an active and athletic boy. He loves sports and his favorite subject in school is English. He wants to become a teacher when he grows up.
