One in eight Haitian children under age 5 dies from starvation. Food requests are increasing at an alarming rate, and our Haiti office manager struggles to feed those who beg for aid. You can save a life today through your gift for food. Your help is urgently needed — please, do what you can to feed Haiti’s hungry.
When we met her in a hospital in Jacmel, Haiti, little Jesula looked so fragile that it seemed her tiny bones would shatter with a mere touch. Jesula was critically malnourished.
Life for Haiti’s poor has grown increasingly difficult. With skyrocketing food prices and many living on $1 a day, the poor search for any means available to feed their children. Parents give their little ones salt water or “cookies” made from mud to fill their empty bellies, or they tighten ropes around their stomachs to ease the hunger pangs. “I don’t have anything to eat,” said Jesula’s cousin and current caretaker. “People are coming from everywhere to look for food. They are hungry.” More people than ever are turning to Food For The Poor for assistance, but our resources are limited. For suffering Haitian children like Jesula, your support is needed now more than ever. Please do whatever you can to help feed starving Haitian children. May God bless you for your compassion. “…‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You…’”
