And even in the wake of a historic drought, Tropical Storm Agatha and a national food crisis, Elvia de Vicente remains personally guilt-ridden and ashamed of her inability to feed her son properly.

“God, forgive me,” Elvia laments as her tears trickle onto the face of her listless boy. Consumed by sorrow, Elvia feels powerless and completely alone in her family’s fight against hunger. By herself, she is unable to provide consistent food. “Help us. Please help us,” is all she can muster.
