Celebrating Food For The Poor’s 30th Anniversary We invite you to join us on February 4, 2012 for Food For The Poor’s Building Hope Gala. This special evening will celebrate Food For The Poor’s 30th anniversary by raising funds for Haiti earthquake victims still struggling to survive. The evening will feature an extensive silent auction and reception, gourmet dinner, dancing, house rally, and live entertainment by the 2012 Grammy nominee and award-winning reggae artist, Shaggy. Proceeds from this gala will benefit the people of Olivier, a village in Haiti that was devastated in the January 2010 earthquake. Members from the Building Hope Gala Committee visited the village in November and had the chance to witness firsthand the dire need for food, homes and clean water. “It was a very sad day, but a great experience – a life-adjusting experience,” said Rene Mahfood, the event’s Honorary Chairperson, after her first day in Haiti. “What we saw today puts everything in perspective. You think about how expensive life is back home and all the things you can’t afford. Then you realize that all those material things don’t matter. None of it matters. All that matters is having a roof over your head, being able to clothe your children and having food to eat.” With the generous support of the Boca Raton community, the future of the children and families in Olivier can be saved. Thank you in advance for your participation as an attendee, sponsor or donor. For additional information please call Carol at 954-427-2222 ext.6585 or email carolc@foodforthepoor.com.
