24 hours to feed millions
Make a difference. Take this opportunity to join with countless others in fasting and praying on the first day of Lent — Ash Wednesday, February 25 — and then give to the poor what you would have spent on food that day. For the past two years, in conjunction with the Global Fast program, Food For The Poor has raised funds to build fishing villages in Haiti. Fishing villages allow destitute fishermen who once struggled to feed their children to catch enough fish to provide food and income for their families.
This Lent, you can help by fasting for one day and donating the money saved to make a tremendous difference for hungry children. A Lenten SacrificeDid you know that starving children in Haiti sometimes eat mud cakes made from dirt, salt and bouillon? Can you imagine being so hungry you’d resort to eating dirt? Hungry Haitian children can. “This, rather, is the fasting that I wish… Sharing your bread with the hungry…” (Isaiah 58: 6a-7a)
The Global Fast movement was inspired by Isaiah 58, which describes what ‘true fasting’ means. Please, consider joining Global Fast and Food For The Poor to share our abundance with those who have nothing. Together, we can change their world and provide nutritious food for poor families. May God bless you for your compassion. Watch Haitian fishing village videosInformation about Food For The Poor and Global Fast
