Haiti Emergency Relief
The situation in Haiti is critical. Without your immediate help, countless Haitians face starvation and possible death. This is a crisis like never before. (Read the e-mail from Fr Duken Augustin describing the desperate situation.)
Last year, Haiti was decimated by four savage storms in the span of a month. The loss of human life, livestock and crops was devastating. Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere. Those who had little now have nothing.
Food For The Poor responded immediately after the storms and has continued sending aid. Our resources have been stretched to their limits. But just when things seemed at their worst, God answered our prayers.
Something miraculous happened: we received a donation of $29.3 million worth of food, medicine, clothing and other emergency relief items to save lives in Haiti. God has truly blessed us in our time of need, but has also given us the tremendous challenge of transporting these essential items to those who are suffering.
We do not have the money to ship and distribute these goods. We’re praying that God will touch our donors’ hearts to help us save precious lives.
The food and other necessities needed to help our brothers and sisters are already available — now we must find a way to deliver these items. It would be yet another tragedy if we’re unable to ship these lifesaving supplies to struggling Haitians as soon as possible.
Every dollar you give today for shipping will be transformed into $25.34 worth of aid. Every gift will be multiplied twenty-five fold! But you must act quickly.
The reports we’re receiving from Haiti are heartbreaking. Many families have several children who are suffering from the deadly effects of starvation and disease. Imagine surviving the terror of four catastrophic storms, only to watch your children slowly and painfully wasting away in the months following.
The people in Haiti desperately need help. They need our prayers and support. Please send a gift today to help families struggling for survival. Whatever you give will be a blessing.
