Hope Survives Among Haiti’s RubbleThe earthquake in Haiti lasted only 30 seconds, but the devastation remains. Hospitals, businesses, homes — and lives — were destroyed.
Much of the media attention on Haiti has faded, but Food For The Poor maintains its commitment to bringing desperately needed aid to those affected. Although the Food For The Poor offices and warehouse incurred damages, we were operational within days, and began serving hot meals the Monday following the quake. The stories in this newsletter are accounts of injury, loss and mourning in the days and weeks immediately after the disaster. But you’ll also find examples of the strength, courage and perseverance of the Haitian spirit. The Haitian people have lost so much, but they have not lost hope. The people of Haiti continue to face a daily struggle and they need your help today. Your gift will remind them that they are not forgotten. Click here to view a Haiti slideshow. I writhe in pain. Oh, the agony of my heart!" (Jeremiah 4:19, NIV)
