Life in the Balance
“This child might die here if she doesn’t get attention.”
During a visit to a rural mountain village in Guatemala, Sister Edna Morales, who runs a nutritional center supported by Food For The Poor, was concerned as she examined 1-year-old Milvia. Milvia was just shy of her first birthday. She was severely malnourished, and her breathing was rapid and shallow. Something had to be done immediately. Food For The Poor staff rushed the infant back to Sister Edna’s facilities. Her life was still in the balance, but she would soon receive the medical care and nourishment she needed to save her life. Throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, many children’s lives are in the balance. Milvia’s life was saved thanks to the quick response of Sister Edna and the steadfast support and generosity of people like you. Individual acts of compassion can save lives. Amid the abundance of the Thanksgiving holiday, please help us deliver lifesaving food to children who need it most. Please help in any way you can. And may God bless you for sharing your daily bread. View Food For The Poor’s November 2009 Newsletter.
