Barbara’s Village

Barbara Gilbert, a single mom who doesn't even own a home herself, recently built a village of 14 homes in Jamaica. Gilbert is a waitress who works three jobs; she's also a part-time college student. Through her efforts and in collaboration with others, 14 Jamaican families received new Food For The Poor houses this year. It's a remarkable and inspiring story of faith, hope and achieving dreams.

Build a Miracle

For countless families in Latin America and the Caribbean, “home” is a cardboard box, a tin shack or a makeshift shanty. Through our “Build a Miracle” program, many are realizing their dreams as brand-new houses are built for them. A gift of $2600 to Food For The Poor will fund the start-to-finish construction of a simple home for a family in need.
