From the Desk of Robin Mahfood, President/CEO
Dear Friend,
We were all deeply saddened to recently learn that Leony was one of the fatalities of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. Leony was only 12 years old at the time of her journey into our Lord’s warm embrace.
Leony suffered from various illnesses caused by living in abject poverty during her early childhood. She was being treated in a Port-au-Prince hospital at the time the earthquake struck, causing the hospital to collapse.
It comforts us to know that the last seven years of her young life were filled with happiness. She was so proud to go to school in her clean, freshly pressed uniform. Going to school had become the most important thing in her life. She was able to experience this pleasure because of caring donors like you and our No School = No Future program.
We wish to celebrate the memory of Leony by continuing No School = No Future in her honor. Won’t you help us make it possible for 3,000 other children to feel the same sense of pride in accomplishment? Let us provide these young boys and girls help and hope for their future. Let us give them a new life!
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
(Mark 10:14)
