No School equals No Future, A project dedicated to the memory of Leony Help Now

A STORY OF LOVE & SORROW

Life in the swamp

Leony and Milouise

Sisters Leony and Milouise were rescued from life in this swamp in 2003. Food and water were always scarce, and going to school unheard of. Had they been forced to remain in this desolation, their future would have held little promise. Certainly they would never have gone to school, causing them to repeat the cycle of poverty that plagued their family for decades. Illiteracy would have prevented them from tasting the joy of triumph and would have condemned them to the bitterness defeat. However, through the grace of God and caring donors like you, Food For The Poor was able to rescue the girls from this fate.

Three years later

Milouise and Leony

The Food For The Poor, No School = No Future program allowed Leony and Milouise to receive love, nourishment and an education for seven years. During this time, their lives were filled with the joy of learning. Eager to go to school each day, the girls worked hard to achieve good grades. Tragically, Leony’s brief life ended at a Port-au-Prince hospital when it collapsed during the earthquake. No School = No Future continues to be vitally important to her sister Milouise, as it is to more than 3,000 other children. Through your support the success of No School = No Future will be a glorious celebration of Leony’s short time with us.

From the Desk of Robin Mahfood, President/CEO

Dear Friend,

We were all deeply saddened to recently learn that Leony was one of the fatalities of the January 12 earthquake in Haiti. Leony was only 12 years old at the time of her journey into our Lord’s warm embrace.

Leony suffered from various illnesses caused by living in abject poverty during her early childhood. She was being treated in a Port-au-Prince hospital at the time the earthquake struck, causing the hospital to collapse.

It comforts us to know that the last seven years of her young life were filled with happiness. She was so proud to go to school in her clean, freshly pressed uniform. Going to school had become the most important thing in her life. She was able to experience this pleasure because of caring donors like you and our No School = No Future program.

We wish to celebrate the memory of Leony by continuing No School = No Future in her honor. Won’t you help us make it possible for 3,000 other children to feel the same sense of pride in accomplishment? Let us provide these young boys and girls help and hope for their future. Let us give them a new life!

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
(Mark 10:14)
