Food For The Poor’s Special Events Department has raised millions to help the destitute of Latin America and the Caribbean. The many functions we organize allow our donors to volunteer, contribute and interact socially, as they gather for a common cause: helping the poorest of the poor. Special events in the past have included events such as black-tie gala dinner/dances which include live and silent auctions, golf and fishing tournaments, sponsored walks/races, concert performances, dinner parties and themed events. The 5th annual Palm Beach Gala, “Fine Wines & Hidden Treasures” will be held on January 28, 2010 at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach, Florida. Numerous distinguished Palm Beach philanthropists attend each year including Honorary Chairpersons Robert G. and Arlette Gordon, and Ball Chairpersons, Cathie and Andres Fanjul. The 14th annual Boca Raton Gala will be held on February 6, 2010 at The Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of items in the silent auction and participate in the House Rally. Proceeds from the 2010 gala will continue to focus on the dire housing need in Latin America and the Caribbean. Last year more than 80 homes were built for families without adequate shelter.
