Special EventsFood For The Poor’s Special Events Department has raised millions to help the destitute of Latin America and the Caribbean. The many functions we organize allow our donors to volunteer, contribute and interact socially, as they gather for a common cause: helping the poorest of the poor. Special events in the past have included events such as black-tie gala dinner/dances which include live and silent auctions, golf and fishing tournaments, sponsored walks/races, concert performances, dinner parties and themed events. Upcoming EventsRockford, IL Event on August 21, 2010 The 9th annual Rockford Event will be held on August 21, 2010 at Giovanni’s in Rockford Illinois. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of items in the silent auction and participate in a Project Rally. Proceeds from the 2010 gala will continue to focus on the building of the Hope Friendship Village in Madaleine, Haiti. Boca Raton, FL Walk For Hunger on October 2, 2010 The 2010 Food For The Poor's Walk For Hunger will take place on October 2, 2010 at Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida. We encourage participation from the South Florida communities as well as cities throughout the U.S. Consider creating a team with friends and family and walk with us in your local communities. The 3-mile walk is an annual Food For The Poor event that brings awareness to the chronic malnutrition situation affecting the Caribbean and Latin America.
