The Boca Grande Friendship Village
The proceeds from the event will be used to begin construction on the Boca Grande Friendship Village in Pierre Payen, Ravine Seche, Haiti. This small coastal village is populated by about 100 families with an average of five or six members. As victims of the earthquake move out of Port-Au-Prince, the population in Pierre Payen will increase. These displaced Haitians need a safe haven.
We will begin the rebuilding of Haiti through the Boca Grande Friendship Village. This project will establish a village consisting of safe housing and sanitation, potable water, a vocational school, a community center, nutritious food resources, and a solar powered electrical system.
This project consists of:
- Constructing 40 double-unit concrete homes with kitchenette. Each house will also include a sanitation unit.
- Each home will be equipped with a 200-gallon plastic water cistern to collect rainwater.
- A water treatment system with the capacity to process 20,000 gallons of water per day for the whole community.
- 500 fruit trees – including mango, avocado and citrus
- Animal husbandry
- A community chicken farm
- Constructing a Community Center
- A solar charging system to provide the community with electricity.
