focustaiwan.tw: Taiwan's first lady to depart on humanitarian trip to Haiti

First lady Chow Mei-ching is scheduled to make her first humanitarian trip to Haiti on Sunday after the Caribbean country was devastated by a major earthquake in January this year, World Vision Taiwan said Friday.

She will make the trip as honorary president of the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China and "Love Ambassador" for World Vision.

Known for her advocacy for child welfare, the first lady will meet earthquake survivors and orphans in Petionville and Port-au-Prince. Chow also plans to visit a make-shift tent camp in Delmas.

She will also be visiting a Food For the Poor center to witness first-hand the distribution of rice donations from Taiwan.
