Skip the Lines this Holiday Season, Give a Gift that Gives Back
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Nov. 20, 2015) – The start of the holiday shopping season is one week away. Instead of dealing with crowds for Black Friday deals, or searching the web on Cyber Monday for the perfect online gift, Food For the Poor is urging shoppers to celebrate the season with a life-sustaining gift on #GivingTuesday.
For the fourth consecutive year, Food For The Poor will participate in #GivingTuesday. For as little as $10, you can provide a family with a fruit tree, bless a family with 20 chicks for only $25 in the name of a loved one, or for $114 you can supply a sewing machine for a poor family, which will give them an opportunity to earn an income by making clothing and other textile products.
“Food For The Poor joined #GivingTuesday in 2012, when the idea was in its infancy, and is honored to be a part of this growing movement. Our donors have lovingly supported our efforts on this day by giving of their time and resources,” said Angel Aloma, Executive Director of Food For The Poor. “It’s good to know, that no matter what terrible things are happening in the world today, there are compassionate people out there who truly want to make it a better place.”
Falling this year on December 1, #GivingTuesday is recognized on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The goal is to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in meaningful ways.
