Help Save Even More Children
Who Are Beaten, Hungry and Desperate
“…it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.” (Matthew 18:14b)
All Zulma Perez ever wanted was to be loved. Instead, her mother abused her and made her work like a servant.
The young girl had to do laundry, cook, iron and lay out her mother’s clothing. If Zulma failed in these tasks, her mother beat her. “She hit me with a stick or with an electrical cord,” Zulma said softly. “I would cry and ask, ‘Why are you doing this to me?’”
Today, 12-year-old Zulma lives in an orphanage in Honduras supported by Food For The Poor. In the orphanage is a picture of the Holy Family, with Mary smiling down at baby Jesus. Zulma wistfully gazes at the picture, dreaming of a mother’s love. “When I see that picture, I wish that were my mom and dad and I were the baby, and I was being treated like Mary is treating Jesus.”
Tragically, stories like this are too common among the thousands of orphaned and abandoned children cared for in orphanages supported by Food For The Poor. Throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, there are so many little ones who lost their parents… or were removed from abusive homes… or who simply come from families too poor to provide for them.
Food For The Poor has been blessed with a tremendous opportunity to help these children. A group of generous benefactors has offered to match, dollar-for-dollar, any gifts we receive by December 31st (up to $500,000) to help precious children like Zulma.
If you’ve ever wanted to help innocent children, now is the perfect time. Any amount you give will be doubled and will help twice as much. Think of the young, innocent ones you’ll help save from neglect or abuse.
Today, children like Zulma dream of a mother’s love and rely on the support of compassionate people like you. Please, keep these children in your prayers and send a gift of love today.
