The Project

Proceeds from the 3rd Annual Rafe Cochran Golf Classic will benefit the Runaway Bay All-Age School in St. Ann, Jamaica.

The Runaway Bay All-Age School project will construct a new school to improve space and enrich the lives of nearly 400 students.

The project will entail:

  • Construction of a new building with a water harvesting system and sanitation
  • All necessary wiring, fixtures, piping, fittings and accessories to complete the plumbing and electrical works
  • A kitchen with new cabinets
  • New appliances for the kitchen
  • Internal and external painting
  • Installation of a drainage and sewage system
  • The construction of a septic tank and tile field system
  • The construction of a concrete access ramp
  • The construction of a water harvesting system
  • The installation of a fenced-in playground

Your generosity will help us to construct a new building with enough classrooms to improve the critical factors of teaching and learning. Leaking roofs will no longer disrupt classes and the computer and resource room will be restored and furnished with donated computers. The school will also have a functioning store room, a library available to the students, a new garbage disposal system and a paved quadrangle. In addition, the classrooms will have new furniture appropriate for the grade and class size.

School administrators have predicted that enrollment will increase as a result of the new school. The community will also benefit from scheduled adult education classes on weekends.
