Water — Life — HopeDear Friends,
Thank you visiting our web site. We are travelers from Atlanta, Georgia who have now several times gone into poverty-stricken Haiti with Food For The Poor, visiting people in Cité Soleil, Cap-Haitien, Port-de-Paix and Gonaïves.
We will be in Haiti from December 1 to December 4 inspecting completed projects and potential new sites. Your support and donations will further our efforts and make a material difference in the lives of thousands of people. You can follow our journey at www.waterlifehope.blogspot.com Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere and has very little in the way of government infrastructure. This means limited utilities, medical care, and no clean water or sanitation facilities for more than half of the 9 million plus population. Many are starving or afflicted with parasites or disease. On Haiti shorelines and riversides, garbage is so pervasive that it sometimes literally tumbles down the banks, creating a permanent layer of filth and potential disease.
We have decided to do something about the water situation. In our view, the right to clean drinking water is the most fundamental human right we have. For if we do not have access to clean drinking water, all other rights are cancelled out or badly compromised. Thus we have been raising funds for numerous water facilities throughout Haiti, from water towers, to artesian wells. We have just finished funding over 100 artesian wells. But the work is not even close to being done. Millions in Haiti still lack access to clean drinking water. We plan to continue this work. Your contribution can have a direct and positive impact. You can be part of an extraordinary effort to aid the Haitian people by providing clean safe drinking water. The water wells that have already been installed there have made a huge difference to the people in the communities they serve. Each well provides clean drinking water for approximately 5,000 people. Each well costs only $5,298.00. Many of us spend that much or more during the year on non-essential things. But water is essential. The difference it makes is extraordinary. Children and the population as a whole are healthier. The wells become centers of commerce and gathering. People bathe, and garden, and cook their food, and wash their children and lead healthier lives. Your contribution to this effort will bring health and joy to thousands of people. It will go directly into wells, nothing else. Please click on the DONATE FOR WATER TODAY button at the top of this page and contribute as much as you can. In doing so, you will save lives and build a future for thousands of wonderful people. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sincerely yours, Ed Buckley, Father Bill Deneke, Ben Barrett, Amanda Farahany, Eric Willis, John Beasley, Damian Reeder.
