A Time for Giving Thanks

Aurelia Bryan, like countless others who endure extreme poverty, expresses heartfelt thanks to God for those who have generously provided help:

“I thank God for sending you here to me today to rescue me. You could have passed. But something of God touched your heart so you are able to hear and see my cries. And I am asking God to keep you and to bless you for what you have done for me today."

Aurelia is only one example of those who experience God’s love and mercy at work in caring individuals like you. Your generosity this past year enabled Food For The Poor to assist clergy, missionaries and others who help restore lives and spread God’s love among the poor.

Our 2006 Annual Report offers more than facts and figures about what Food For The Poor accomplished in 2006. Behind each fact and figure is the face of someone who was in desperate need. Children who were rescued from death. Families that were restored to dignity. Elderly people who were given comfort in their golden years.

By responding to these cries for help, we follow the example of Jesus Christ, who reached out to help the poor, the outcast and the sick. As His followers, we strive to do the same.

We are called to feed the hungry, shelter the poor, quench the thirst of those who are parched, and care for those who are sick, 2006 Annual Reportelderly or orphaned. We are called to share Christ’s love with others.

“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” (John 13:34)

God has blessed Food For The Poor’s ministry, and our efforts to serve Him have multiplied. But so much more needs to be done… and there’s so much more that we can do with your support. For every grateful child or family whose cry for help was answered, others still plead for someone to hear and respond.

Administrative Ratio

Your gift today will save lives, renew hope and restore spirits. And because we take our responsibility as stewards of your gifts very seriously, we work diligently to keep our expenditures and costs to a minimum. Fundraising and other administrative costs comprised less than 4% of our 2006 expenses; more than 96% of all donations received went directly to programs that help the poor.

It takes a special kind of love to help the poorest of the poor. Please read our Annual Report to see the transformative power of sharing Christ’s love with those in need.
