  • Dear Rose and Emily,

I remember our trip together very fondly. It was wonderful to see young people so aware of the plight of the poor and, even more importantly, so eager and willing to do something to change their lives for the better. I have just returned from two back-to-back trips (Haiti and Guatemala) and it never ceases to amaze me that no matter how much I travel to visit the poor, I always learn something new and I always grow emotionally, psychologically, culturally and spiritually from the experience. I am such a fortunate man to have my job. God bless you both for being such wonderful young ladies.

  • Dear Angel,

We traveled with you to Nicaragua in January and we wanted to say thank you for your leadership and your sacrifices. The stories you told us on our pilgrimage touched our hearts and we have told them to many of the people we speak to. Our trip has impacted our lives and taught us that we have much to be thankful for and much to share. Thanks for everything that you and FFP do. God bless!

  • Dear Thandiwe, It is I that should thank you for your heart for the poor. I am confident that God will expand your territory so that you can help those in your continent. Don't be concerned about the size of your gift, rather remember that the gift that pleased our Lord the most was the widows mites, for it was given from her need and with a pure heart.

You are correct in underlining the importance of changing peoples lives. After all, the entire ministry of Jesus was based on transformation. He transformed the hungry by giving them bread and fish; he transformed the sick with His healing touch; He transformed the prostitutes, the tax collectors and the adulterers by recognizing their inner beauty and making them see themselves through His eyes; those who were spiritually hungry, He fed them with his teachings of love, forgiveness and compassion.

So you see, Thandiwe, that by desiring to change people's lives you are walking in the footsteps of our Savior.

God bless you for that. Angel

  • Dear Angel

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity that FFP has given me, to be able to give to those who are less fortunate than me.  Often people don't know where to get involved/how to give help to the poor, but thanks to this organisation, now we have the opportunity to help knowing that someone elses life is changed.  I pray that the Lord Jesus will bless you and your whole staff.  May your hearts never go weary and may you knees never go feeble.  You don't know the impact that this organisation has made in my life, for the first time in my life I feel I can change people's lives because I am not just sympathising with them but I am helping with the little help that I give..I pray that the Lord will expand my territory so that I can give more especially in my continent, Africa... Blessings

  • Thank you for your comment and for your loving heart, Malak. At the moment we have no plans to expand our area of aid, since the need in our countries is very great and our resources are limited. I understood the meaning of your name as soon as I read it. You see, my mother is of Lebanese parents. My grandfather was from Beirut, and my grandmother was from Choufeit, a mountainous area outside of Beirut. Shukran, Malak, Allah selmak. Angel

  • Hello Len, Thank you for your interest in the least of God's children. I am going to ask our pilgrimage manager, Nancy Clarke, to get in touch with you. Perhaps a pilgrimage to one of our countries would help you discern and decide what path to take for the future in regards to missionary work. God bless you for your heart. Angel

  • Dear Jim, Thank you so much for your note and for your commitment to God's poor. It is always a pleasure for me to be able to show others the needs in our countries and the remedies to those needs that their generosity can accomplish. It is I who should thank you for having the heart to care for those who have no face, no voice and no power in our world. Look forward to seeing you again. Warmly,

  • I just heard of your organization at mass this morning and became motivated. I've decided to contribute what little I can afford but I'd really like to become personally involved through travel to some of the caribean and South American Countries to help. My sister spent 7 years on St Kitts in the 1970's with the Peace Corp, so I know what poor is like through her. Now that I'm 65 I'd like to do something like my sister did then. I have the time but am only a retired businessman with little other professional experience to offer. Please guide me in the right direction. I'd like to help.

  • Dear Georgia, I am moved by the pro-active stance which you took in regards to the poor. You are obviously the type of person that doesn't simply stop at sympathy, but rather converts that sympathy into action. I pray to God that there are many more people like you in this country. If the world shared your passion and energy for the poor, we would probably be out of business in a few years (and that would be a great thing!) God bless you, your church, and your community for the efforts to give a voice to His poor. Sincerely, Angel

  • Hi Susan, Just wanted to thank you for your interest and comments on my travel journal. We are already very involved in Honduras through three different channels, but I am always open to learn more about the needs. Thank you for having a heart for God's poor. Angel

  • Hi Angel, In 1997, I felt the need to be removed from my comfort zone. I went to Haiti with FFP, and it was an experience that affected me -- then and now. I can never again take for granted the good things I have in my life. When I returned, I went to my pastor and suggested that we needed to do something in our parish to make people aware of the plight of our third world brothers and sisters. That was the start of our Third World Walk. Now, 10 years later, the walk has grown into a community walk each March. We always have our symbolic lunch of rice and beans after. Following the trip to Haiti I went on another trip to Nicaragua. My husband passed away in Oct. of '05. I am now feeling the need to to remind myself of how the rest of the world lives. I think it is time for another trip with FFP.
