World Water Day, March 22 2008
The need for clean water and basic sanitation throughout the world is critical.
The United Nations has officially designated March 22, 2008 as World Water Day, and 2008 has been declared the International Year of Sanitation.
According to a U.N. report, as many as 5,000 children under the age of 5 died in 2004 from diseases caused by lack of adequate sanitation. The report also states that for every dollar spent on sanitation, a $9 economic return results.
Food For The Poor works to provide clean drinking water and adequate sanitation to destitute families in countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. But to do this, we need the help and support of people like you.
Please help provide safe, clean drinking water and sanitation for suffering children and their families. Your gift can save precious lives.
