What could I do ...

... if the walls fell down with my children
and my family inside?

A tiny fragile adobe shack that can easily topple

Clara Martinez would rather have a safe house than food for her children. She fears her current shack will collapse on the family.

A Desperate Need for Housing

Help build a miracle

Clara Martinez, 33, is praying that you will help build a miracle.

Clara, a poor, single mother, earns only $100 a year picking coffee in Nicaragua. Although her family sometimes goes hungry, she would rather have a safe house than food for her children.

“I can give the children tortillas with salt, and we could manage. I could never afford a house,” she said.

Rain pours through her home’s leaky roof and turns the dirt floor into mud. Poisonous snakes nest in the mud walls. Scorpions fall down from the rafters and sting the children.

“I ask God before I go to sleep to keep the walls in their place. What could I do if the walls fell down on my children?” Clara asks softly.

Throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, thousands of families like Clara’s are currently on our waiting list for houses — in Nicaragua, Haiti, Guatemala, Jamaica and the other countries we serve. These families pray for help.

You can share Christ’s love today with poor families who are praying for safe shelter. A gift of just $2,600 builds a house for a family in need. Please, open your heart and give a gift today. Whatever you can give will help make a difference in providing a safe, secure home.
