“Please don’t let me die of hunger.”
Recently, at our Haiti feeding center, tears rolled down 10-year-old Vitamin Sauver’s face. “The day before yesterday there was no food left. I didn’t eat all day,” she said. “Please don’t let me die of hunger.”
Our Haiti manager told us she doesn’t have enough food to feed everyone. Skyrocketing costs and recent hurricanes have further debilitated this suffering nation. Food For The Poor is one of the only charities still serving meals to the poor in the area.
Vitamin is responsible for bringing food from our feeding program home to her family — a sister and two cousins. But sometimes the food runs out. “There’s more people than food,” our Haiti manager said. “Most other organizations have closed their feeding programs.”
In Haiti, the strain of other feeding programs closing and the destruction the hurricanes have left behind has hit Food For The Poor hard. We are struggling to feed as many people as possible, but each day our resources are stretched to the limit. We can’t feed every child who comes to us for food — and we need your help.
Your gift for food means little girls like Vitamin won’t be afraid of dying from hunger. Please do whatever you can to share your blessings with Haiti’s suffering children. May God bless you for your compassion.
“For He satisfied the thirsty,
filled the hungry with good things.”
