Service TripsThe duration of each trip is Monday through Friday. In most cases, a Sunday night layover in Fort Lauderdale or Miami will be necessary in order to catch the early Monday morning international flight. Ground Rules:
Click here to see one student’s reflections on their week. CostStudents and faculty pay for personal domestic airfares plus a trip package price. The $1,400 package price includes round-trip international airfare from Ft. Lauderdale, hotel (or housing), meals, ground transportation, and a group leader. Also in your total price $50 from each student’s package will go directly to helping the cause. If you are going to Jamaica the money will be used to purchase everything for the house you will build. Mission Trip Price: $1,400 per person from Fort Lauderdale, FloridaA $100 non-refundable deposit is due with the completed reservation and liability wavier forms. 50% of the land package price is due 60 days prior to departure, with the balance due 30 days prior. Once Food For the Poor provides a “go” status of the trip, we suggest flights to Fort Lauderdale be purchased 60-45 days prior to departure. Students for the Poor will arrange your travel to the mission trip destination. Group SizeThe maximum size for each trip is 22 people (ratio = 10 students : 1 faculty member). AgendaThe touring agenda will include visits to programs supported by Food For The Poor. They include: feeding programs, orphanages, schools, housing communities, and sustainable development projects. There will be hands-on activities at all locations: feeding, painting homes, landscaping and more. If you are interested in building homes for the poor Jamaica is the only destination where your group can do construction. **All rules are subject to change based on special circumstances. |
