Robert P. Watson

Ph.D., American Studies, Lynn University, Florida

“Students at Lynn University have enjoyed an unparalleled educational experience with the Journey of Hope. Students for the Poor programming has raised awareness on campus of poverty and hunger in the developing world to the point where students are bringing examples from their experiences with the program into my classroom and tailoring their course projects to this new-found passion. At Lynn University, it is possible to overhear conversations about hunger and human rights at lunch tables in our campus cafeteria. Indeed, Students for the Poor is not only a model for campus experiential learning but has transformed the lives of several of our students to the point where I suspect our students are getting as much out of the program as are the individuals and communities in the countries they have helped.”

Robert P. Watson, Ph.D. runs the American Studies program at Lynn University. He is the author or editor of over 25 books and over 100 scholarly articles and book chapters on American politics and history. Dr. Watson serves on the boards of several scholarly journals, academic associations, and presidential foundations, is a frequent media commentator with local, national, and international outlets, and is an avid volunteer in the community.
