Front Desk Receptionist

If you have the kind of “gold standard” customer service skills that make people feel valued, and you are compassionate, reliable, attentive and personable, we have a great opportunity for you. Food For The Poor is seeking an experienced, professional full-time Front Desk Receptionist willing to work 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming phone calls from donors, prospective donors, vendors, visitors and staff, and route them to the appropriate extensions
  • Greet and screen visitors
  • Ensure only authorized individuals enter the building
  • Utilize paging system
  • Assist with administrative duties including mail code changes and research as needed
  • Minimum high school diploma; some college preferred
  • At least three years’ experience in reception/customer service, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Traffic Assistant – Shipping Department

This is a great opportunity to use your skills in vendor relations and shipping to help Food For The Poor facilitate proper delivery of goods to the Caribbean and Latin America.

Overall Responsibilities:

Prepare required shipping documents for purchased/donated goods to various Caribbean and Latin American countries and maintain records of same. Interface with Gifts In Kind and Purchasing departments and work with vendors to ensure delivery of goods.

  • Prepare shipping documents, including invoice, packing list and filing/mailing documents to recipients
  • Bill and invoice all shipments
  • Verify containers with shipping lines
  • Prepare shipping instructions for shipments to freight forwarder
  • Maintain inventory of in-house stock items for shipping
  • Log all new purchase orders
  • Coordinate shipping arrangements with DHL and Federal Express
  • Follow up with vendors to verify purchase orders and delivery of goods
  • Receive and prepare donated goods for drop-off
  • Prepare monthly shipment spreadsheet report
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Shipping and Receiving Manager
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of shipping operations
  • Minimum of two years office/customer relations experience in shipping or a related field

Database Administrator – Information Systems Department

Food For The Poor, Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to provide 24/7 support of the database management systems and be involved in providing support for the Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure which includes programming, installation, monitoring, tuning and troubleshooting issues. This role will involve optimizing database performance, database upgrades and/or migrations. This is a full-time position.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Department’s Database Administrators in support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems
  • Set up new databases in Microsoft and perform database maintenance
  • Work with the Department’s Network Administrators during installation, configuration, software upgrade and updates to maintain environments
  • Work with the Department’s Database Administrators in development, setting up and managing automated backups
  • Set up and manage scheduled SQL Server Agent jobs
  • Complete performance tuning and database optimization
  • Set up centralized monitoring, executing scripts, patches, backup reports, status reports and performance monitoring
  • Ability to work during non-business hours including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Provide backup for other IS personnel
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 – 2017
  • Advanced troubleshooting and tuning capabilities with SQL
  • General SQL performance and tuning skills including server configuration and tracing facilities
  • Working knowledge of job scheduling

Programmer / Analyst – Information Systems Department

Our Information Systems Department is seeking a Programmer/Analyst. If you have programming experience and enjoy writing or modifying programs, analyzing specifications into appropriate computer language, and performing testing solutions, this job is for you. This is a full-time position.

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Write new, or modify existing computer programs or queries by coding instructions into machine-readable form
  • Test all programs for functionality in a test environment before submitting to manager
  • Create and maintain documentation, file layout, and source code dictionaries related to applications developed in-house
  • Create user manuals, as needed, and provide required user training on new or existing systems
  • Act as a resource person to solve computer problems for users
Skills and Qualifications:

Director of Legacy and Gift Planning

Overall Responsibilities:

Develop, promote, and expand the legacy and gift planning program and direct program activities in coordination with the organization’s fundraising efforts to achieve goals, prepare departmental budget, manage departmental operations and staff, and network with outside groups and individuals to promote Food For The Poor’s legacy and gift planning programs. This is a full-time, management position in the Legacy and Gift Planning Department.

  • Broad, in-depth knowledge and understanding of planned giving products/programs
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to establish rapport and build relationships with individuals

  • Ability and willingness to travel to visit donors and/or prospects approximately 40% - 50% of the time

Clergy for our Speakers Bureau
