Fighting Hunger One Step at a Time

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (March 12, 2008) - Food For The Poor’s annual 3-2-1 Fun Walk is just weeks away but there’s still time to sign up for what promises to be a fun-filled day.

The recipe for the 3-2-1 Fun Walk is simple:  walk 3 miles 2 feed 1 family.  Just log onto, register, get your friends to sponsor you, and then show up on April 5th at the Food For The Poor headquarters in Coconut Creek.  It’s a great way to start your day and you’ll get some exercise, maybe win a prize or two, and make a real difference in the fight against hunger. 

At just $4.00 per mile –or a total of $12 from each of your sponsors –you’ll feed a family of four for a month.  The goal this year is to raise enough to feed 5,000 destitute families in the Caribbean and Latin America for a month. 

Participants in the 3-2-1 Fun Walk will step off to the sounds of a deejay, enjoy free chair massages from Align Your Spine Chiropractic Life Center, get to meet Coconut Creek’s firedog Sparky and police robot Safety Sam, watch performances from Dance Broward, hear from Lynn University students about their recent journey to Haiti, enjoy lunch from 620 Subs, and take home a Fun Walk T-Shirt.
