Old and New Friends Gather to Create A Night of Culinary Masterpieces at Food For The Poor's Palm Beach Gala

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Dec. 28, 2009) – In recognition of Food For The Poor’s seventh annual Fine Wines & Hidden Treasures gala, Jan. 28, 2010, the Ritz-Carlton’s Executive Chef, Ryan Artim, his culinary team and four renowned chefs will collaborate to create an evening of exceptional dining, at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach. Proceeds from the gala, chaired by Palm Beach philanthropists – Robert G. and Arlette Gordon (Honorary Chairpersons), and Andres and Cathie Fanjul (Ball Chairpersons), will benefit Gordon’s Village in Jamaica.

Food For The Poor’s gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a superb wine tasting reception sponsored by Transatlantic Wine & Spirits, Dreyfus Ashby & Co., and Southern Wine and Spirits of South Florida. The event wine sponsors will specially select fine wines for the reception and dinner to enhance each course.

The culinary masterpieces will be prepared by the Ritz-Carlton’s Executive Chef Ryan Artim and the following guest chefs: Luke Forzano, Executive Sous Chef, Encore Wynn Las Vegas; Rey Eugenio, Executive Chef Partner, Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine of Baltimore; Kenneth J. Gilbert, Capella Telluride/Inn at Lost Creek; and Mark Ainsworth, President/CEO, Pastry Smart LLC. 

“I have seen some of the results of this charity’s work – they are fantastic,” said Robert Gordon. “I have seen faces that smile and are happy when they hear about Food For The Poor.”

In addition to Food For The Poor's international mission, the organization also supports many South Florida charities in Palm Beach and Broward counties, including The Center For Family Services of Palm Beach County, The Lord's Place, New Hope Charities, Blessings Food Pantry at Christ Church, Chris Evert Children's Hospital, The Salvation Army shelter, Women in Distress, and United Overcome Church.

Food For The Poor, the largest international relief and development organization in the nation, does much more than feed millions of hungry poor in 17 countries of the Caribbean, Latin America, and the United States.
