Food For The Poor Promotes Mark Khouri to Vice President

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (March 9, 2017)  Mark Khouri, Director of Gifts In Kind since 2009, has been promoted to Vice President at Food For The Poor. In his new role, Khouri will work closely with President/CEO Robin Mahfood to continue to grow the charity's ability to serve the poorest of the poor.

"Mark Khouri has proven to be an invaluable asset in the remarkable growth of Food For The Poor," Mahfood said. "He has the respect of our directors, management and donors and I am looking forward to having him work more closely by my side to continue God's work."

In 2016, Food For The Poor distributed more than $876 million in aid to destitute children and their families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

Javier Ramirez, Gifts in Kind Manager, will replace Khouri as Director of Gifts In Kind.

Khouri has been at Food For The Poor since 2002. A longtime Florida resident, Khouri graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Florida State University and is active in both civic and religious organizations. He resides in Pembroke Pines with his wife of 25 years, Marlene Ross Khouri. The couple has three sons.

"I am excited about this new position and look forward to serving the poor in a broader way," Khouri said.

Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance. Over the last 10 years, fundraising and other administrative costs averaged less than 5% of our expenses; more than 95% of all donations went directly to programs that help the poor.
