Miami Valley Homes and Wells For Haiti

VIEW THE VIRTUAL EVENT BELOW

The Boca Grande Hope For Haitians Committee invites you to join its quest to help provide 30 homes for families in Savann Kabrit, Haiti, and 25 water wells for impoverished communities throughout Haiti.

Our annual in-person fundraising gathering at Boca Grande has been canceled this year because of the coronavirus. But the people of Haiti continue to wait for an answer to their prayers for homes. Because of the coronavirus crisis, the biggest need for these families in addition to homes is clean water. Therefore, this year, we are hosting a Virtual Event with a project goal of providing 30 homes and 25 Water Wells.

Help us Provide 30 Homes in Savann Kabrit

Savann Kabrit is an impoverished community, located in Thomazeau, where residents live exposed to the elements in makeshift homes built out of mud, sticks and scrap metal. Your support will help to transform the lives of Haitian families who have been praying for safe shelter. This year’s homes will provide shelter for 30 families in Savann Kabrit with the completion of phase IV of Boca Grande Friendship Villages.

Help us Provide 25 Water Wells

Haiti, much like the rest of the world, is suffering through the COVID-19 pandemic. Practicing good hygiene is now more critical than ever to stop the spread of the virus. With many Haitian citizens unable to access clean water, maintaining proper hygiene is even more challenging. Hand washing and other means of sanitization are imperative in stopping the spread of COVID-19.

People desperate for water are forced to walk 30 to 45 minutes to extract it from sources like rivers or springs that are shared with animals. In some communities, residents drink directly from street gutters. With your help, we will be able to provide ready access to potable water supply for families in desperate need and help them maintain good hygiene during this pandemic.

The Water Wells For Haiti project that is responding to the critical water needs of impoverished communities throughout Haiti will drill 25 wells, each with a hand pump, up to 150 feet deep (depending on location).

The following communities have been identified to have an immediate need for a water well:

South East Department
  • Cayes-Jacmel – 10 water wells
West Department
  • Petit-Goave/Savanette – 5 water wells
  • Tabarre – 4 water wells
  • Varreux/Croix-des-Bouquets – 6 water wells
